History: Ancient Maya men and women wore garbs that could be dyed or painted various colors and decorated with colorful threads. Garments more commonly worn by women were sarongs, which they tied under the arms. Today, sarongs are popularized by women across many beaches of the world as an outer garment covering for swimwear.
